Phạm Việt Hưng, born in 2005, won two consecutive gold medals in the International Mathematical Olympiad. Đinh Cao Sơn won the gold medal in the International Chemistry Olympiad with a ranking of 7th in the world, and Nguyễn Tuấn Phong became the first student from Bắc Ninh province to win the gold medal in the International Physics Olympiad.

In 2022, Việt Hưng was the youngest member of the Vietnamese team to participate in the International Mathematical Olympiad in Norway. He scored 39 out of 42 points and was one of the two students who won the gold medal.

In 2023, Việt Hưng once again brought home a prestigious gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Japan with a score of 37 out of 42.

These remarkable achievements earned him the First Class Labor Medal in 2023 and the Second Class Labor Medal in 2022.

Việt Hưng has a passion for mathematics and has won many awards in this field, including the gold medal in English Mathematics at the 2016 International Mathematics and Science Olympiad, first prize in the Hanoi City Mathematics Competition for Middle School in the 2019-2020 academic year, second prize in the National Mathematics Olympiad for Gifted Students in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years, the Lê Văn Thiêm Prize from the Vietnam Mathematical Society, etc.

Aside from his outstanding achievements in mathematics, Việt Hưng has also obtained an 8.0 IELTS score and nearly a perfect score in the SAT exam (1580/1600). Furthermore, he received a full scholarship worth 8.4 billion VND from the University of Chicago, USA.

Đinh Cao Sơn (Hà Tĩnh) – a student at the Hanoi National University of Education

As a 12th-grade chemistry student at the gifted high school in Hà Tĩnh province, Cao Sơn was one of the three Vietnamese students who won the gold medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad in Switzerland in 2023. He had the highest score among the Vietnamese team, ranking 7th out of nearly 350 students from 90 countries and territories.

Due to this excellent performance, Cao Sơn was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal in 2023.

Prior to this achievement, Cao Sơn had left a mark in the field of chemistry, such as being the top scorer in the national competition for gifted students in chemistry in the 2022-2023 academic year, first prize in the provincial chemistry competition in the 2022-2023 academic year, second prize in the national chemistry competition for gifted students in the 2021-2022 academic year, and being the top student in the specialized chemistry class at Hà Tĩnh Gifted High School, among other honors.

In addition, Cao Sơn has received awards such as the title of “Excellent Student” from the Central Youth Union in the 2022-2023 academic year, the title of “Excellent Student” at the provincial level in the 2022-2023 academic year, and the title of “Outstanding Student in Study, Labor, and Creativity” from Hà Tĩnh province in the 2020-2023 period.

With his outstanding achievements both nationally and internationally, Cao Sơn has been admitted straight into several top universities. Instead of studying abroad like some other students, he decided to pursue a degree in Chemistry Education at the Hanoi National University of Education.

Although praised by many as a “chemistry genius,” Cao Sơn is not fond of this title. He believes that knowledge is infinite, and he sees himself as a small grain of sand in the vast ocean, wishing to be just an ordinary person.

Nguyễn Tuấn Phong (Bắc Ninh) – a student at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology

In the International Physics Olympiad held in Japan in July 2023, Tuấn Phong was one of the two Vietnamese students who won the gold medal. With a score of 37.5 out of 50, the 2005-born young man had the highest score in the entire team and ranked 22nd out of 398 candidates from 84 countries and territories.

Tuấn Phong became the first student from Bắc Ninh province to win a gold medal in an international Olympiad. Prior to this, he won the silver medal in the European Physics Olympiad in 2022 and the bronze medal in the Asian-Pacific Physics Olympiad in 2023.

For his outstanding academic achievements, Tuấn Phong was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal in 2023.

Additionally, Tuấn Phong has received several awards, including first place in the national competition for gifted students in physics in the 2022-2023 academic year, second place in the national competition for gifted students in physics in the 2021-2022 academic year, and the “Excellent Student” title awarded by the Bac Ninh Youth Union in 2022.

Tuấn Phong is currently studying Control Engineering and Automation at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology. He is also preparing to study abroad and is focusing on learning English to take the IELTS exam before applying for scholarships. His dream destination is the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
