On February 27, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha met with Mr. Vương Bân, the General Director of PowerChina Group (China), and highly appreciated the investment and business activities of the Group in the energy and infrastructure construction sectors.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Vietnam and China have favorable conditions to develop infrastructure projects connecting cross-border transportation to serve economic trade, investment, and commerce activities.

Currently, Vietnam and China have signed 2 memorandums of understanding to enhance cooperation in developing cross-border railways, within the framework of the “Two Corridors, One Belt” connectivity plan with the “Belt and Road” initiative between Vietnam and China.

Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that infrastructure connectivity projects will symbolize the cooperative relations between the two countries. In addition to investment and business activities, Chinese enterprises need to focus on sharing experiences, technology transfer to Vietnamese partners for mutual cooperation and success.

In the energy sector, Deputy Prime Minister mentioned that Vietnam has issued the Electricity Development Master Plan VIII, which allocates a significant “reservoir” for renewable energy development. However, he emphasized the need to ensure a stable and balanced power system, solve issues related to storage, transportation, and use of new fuel types produced from renewable energy such as hydro, ammonia, etc.

Deputy Prime Minister welcomed Chinese companies, including PowerChina, to participate in renewable energy projects in Vietnam. He expects these projects to become models of effective and high-quality cooperation.

Reporting on PowerChina’s activities in Vietnam, Mr. Vương Bân stated that the Group has close cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises in project implementation and human resource training on-site.

PowerChina’s leadership also shared information about renewable energy projects being implemented, particularly energy storage solutions, to ensure the stability, balance, and safety of the power system.

Additionally, PowerChina has extensive experience, capacity, and resources to implement transportation infrastructure projects such as highways and high-speed railways.

Acknowledging the suggestions from PowerChina’s leadership, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed relevant ministries, departments, and localities to continue working and supporting PowerChina in identifying investment opportunities in specific, suitable renewable energy and transportation infrastructure projects.
