Before the renovation, the homeowners wanted a living space filled with natural light and greenery, unlike the typical cramped condominiums, while also emphasizing convenience and family bonding. The architects Trần Công Nguyên and Nguyễn Thái Tiên brainstormed together and came up with the idea of taking inspiration from the family’s travel stories. The apartment is designed to resemble a small garden with the dominant colors being the white of the sky and the green of the plants. Greenery is spread throughout the living room, kitchen, workspace, bedroom, and even the bathrooms. The design features rounded edges for safety around the house, creating a softer and more welcoming atmosphere. The original apartment had many beams and columns that made the space feel heavy. The homeowners requested a solution to cover these beams without lowering the ceiling to maintain the spaciousness of the house. The designers crafted the ceiling elegantly to create a light and soft space. The lower floor is designated for the living room, kitchen, workspace, storage room, and shared bathroom. The workspace has a lush green panoramic view with a workspace integrated into the living room through a green arched door, providing a focal point for easy interaction and observation. The workspace is directly connected to the living room, with a tree of prosperity planted directly on the table, creating a comfortable working environment under the shade of green leaves. The architects also installed plant lights on the ceiling to provide additional natural light to the plants. The workspace is harmoniously integrated with nature, providing a relaxing environment for work. The workspace table is made of solid oak with a waterproof wood frame, featuring a specialized plant pot, allowing the table to withstand moisture when planting greenery. The bedroom on the lower floor has been transformed into a dual-purpose workspace and dining area for guests. This space is connected to the living room and kitchen through a green arched door, creating a cozy and soft atmosphere. The tropical tree is directly planted on the table, creating a comfortable and relaxed working environment under the shade of green leaves. The bathroom is designed with translucent glass tiles to soften the space, while also separating the bathroom area. The glass tiles provide a unique architectural and decorative element, as well as a source of light, creating an elegant and refined space. The natural wicker elements in the bedroom create a simple, rustic, and nature-friendly living space. The son’s bedroom is designed as a small safari with the bed stylized as a jeep. The bedroom also features a wall mural of various animals connecting to the garden. Both bedrooms have a lush green balcony view, giving the feeling of living in a large garden. The shared bathroom is spacious, with enough room for a lying bathtub and a standing shower. The glass partition wall allows natural light to flood the area, making it the most relaxing space in the house. The bathroom does not require artificial lighting during the day as natural light spills in from the bedroom, and only a wall lamp is needed at night to create a romantic and relaxing atmosphere. The balcony garden and indoor living space are separated by a translucent glass wall. The open design ensures a fresh and naturally-lit indoor space. The modern living space is a dream for many, fulfilling the criteria for convenience and family bonding. The architecture team mentioned that the design and renovation of this apartment took 150 days. The homeowners invested 350 million VND for the finishing touches and 320 million VND for the interior design.
