On the morning of August 31, continuous calls came in to Viettrekking Sa Pa’s receptionist asking to book rooms. Most of these guests had made a late decision to travel and were willing to stay in dormitory rooms, but the hotel was already fully booked.

Mr. Le Minh Duc, representing Viettrekking Sa Pa, shared that the hotel was fully booked from the end of August to the September 2 holiday and weekends in September. Room prices ranged from 250,000 VND for dormitory rooms to 2.6 million VND for bungalows with mountain views overlooking the terraced rice fields.

Similarly, the representative of Sinavi Homestay and Coffee in Cau May Ward, Sa Pa, Mr. Nguyen Viet Mai, also mentioned that they were fully booked from August 30 to September 3. Sinavi has a total of 12 rooms, accommodating 2-4 people per room, and despite continuous booking inquiries, they had to decline due to being fully booked.

“The Sa Pa tourism market this year is more vibrant than the same period last year. Most hotels and homestays were fully booked very early. The reason may be due to the beautiful weather during the holiday season this year, with tourists shifting from beach trips in the summer to mountain tours, making travel more convenient,” Mr. Nguyen Viet Mai remarked.

September 2 is also the time when a series of events celebrating 120 years of tourism in Sa Pa will take place, attracting a large number of visitors. Families preparing to send their young children back to school and the beginning of the rainy season in some regions prompt tourists to choose nearby destinations for leisure travel and relaxation rather than adventurous experiences.

According to a survey by Dan Tri reporters, during the four holiday days, tourists showed interest in luxury hotels first, followed by homestays offering mountain views or terraced valleys.

Room categories and “golden season” resort packages have lower prices than in the summer, ranging from 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 VND per room per night for two people.

Pao’s Sapa Leisure Hotel, a luxury resort in Sa Pa, reported that they have nearly filled all 223 rooms for all four holiday days. Only about 4 – 8 remaining rooms are luxury rooms, with an average price ranging from 5 to 9 million VND per night.

Advance booking rates were high, with the majority of guests booking a month before the holiday, and by the second week of August, the hotel had already reached a 90% occupancy rate. During the four holiday days, Pao’s Sapa Leisure Hotel expected to serve 4,000 – 5,000 guests.

For free-spirited travelers with late travel plans, finding a room in Sa Pa at this time is extremely difficult. There are very few options available, either expensive, low-quality, distant from the city center, or with unsatisfactory services.
