The incident of a tourist boat on the Nho Quế river taking visitors to the famous Tu Sản alley unexpectedly stopped operating from 0h on September 16, attracting public attention.
On the evening of September 15, the Tu Sản Agricultural Cooperative and Tourism Service announced the “suspension of passenger transportation on the Nho Quế 1 reservoir”. According to the representative, the cooperative has not yet agreed on a temporary management plan for inland water transport services for tourists within the Nho Quế 1 reservoir and has not signed or extended a passenger transport contract with the Nho Quế 1 Hydropower Company.
On the afternoon of September 19, the People’s Committee of Mèo Vạc district, Hà Giang province, urgently sent a letter to the relevant parties, including the Agricultural Cooperative (the unit operating boats on the Nho Quế river) and the Nho Quế 1 Hydropower Company (the unit managing the Nho Quế 1 reservoir).
In order to timely serve tourists to visit, experience, and admire the Tu Sản alley on the Nho Quế 1 reservoir, the People’s Committee of Mèo Vạc district requested the two units to “work to agree on a plan to continue transporting tourists within the Nho Quế 1 reservoir”. The results of the work will be sent to the People’s Committee of Mèo Vạc before 9 a.m. on September 20.
Moreover, the People’s Committee also requested to “agree to restore the transport of tourists within the Nho Quế 1 reservoir”, starting from 7 a.m. on September 21. Any issues related to the transport of tourists within the Nho Quế 1 reservoir will be further reviewed by the People’s Committee to resolve matters within its jurisdiction and report to the provincial People’s Committee and specialized departments for appropriate solutions.
In an interview with Dan Tri reporter, a representative of the Agricultural Cooperative stated that they had received documents and invitations to a meeting from the People’s Committee of Mèo Vạc district.
“We are waiting to see how the results of today’s meeting (September 20) will be. The cooperative is adamant about not signing a contract due to the violations of the Nho Quế 1 Hydropower Company. We may sign a contract with the district representative or have the district temporarily manage the cooperative as before,” the representative said.
The Tu Sản alley has towering cliffs up to 800m high, 1.7km long, and nearly 1km deep. This is a unique wonder in the rocky plateau of Đồng Văn.
To reach this area, tourists will take a boat with a ticket price of 120,000 VND/person, exploring the Nho Quế river for 1-2 hours. According to information from the Agricultural Cooperative, during peak tourist season, this area can welcome from 7,000 to 8,000 visitors per day. All 51 boats in the fleet operate at full capacity.
