At the beginning of September, in a large group of members, Le Truong Anh (25 years old, Hanoi) shared about the house he gave to his mother after many years of effort, immediately causing a stir on social media. Truong Anh said he had a dream of buying a house to give to his mother since he was a university student. It was also the goal he set to motivate himself. To realize his dream, in his second year of university, Truong Anh started investing in business. At some point, the student earned quite a bit of money, but also faced failures due to being young and inexperienced. “Failure is inevitable, I felt pressured and doubted myself, wondering if I was inadequate or not,” he recalled. Luckily, his mother was always by his side, encouraging him and comforting him, helping Truong Anh regain his spirit and continue to “fight.” He calmly analyzed the decisions in investment and business, identified the problems, quickly returned to work with a more stable mindset, and achieved certain successes. At the end of 2021, Truong Anh bought a 103m2 apartment in Hanoi. With criteria of a spacious living room, creating space for family activities and gatherings, surrounded by many amenities such as supermarkets, hospitals, and green spaces. He gave two reasons for choosing an apartment instead of a house on land. “Firstly, because my mother is older, living in an apartment will be more secure and convenient for moving around thanks to the spacious floor area and elevator system. Secondly, with this amount of money, I could buy a house in a remote location or alleyway, which would bring many inconveniences such as transportation or parking,” Truong Anh analyzed. According to him, the process from design to completion of the house took about 6 months. The construction coincided with the Covid-19 outbreak period, so it was delayed compared to the initial plan. The house was officially completed in mid-2022, with a dominant modern minimalist style. The house consists of 3 bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. The corner unit receives plenty of natural light, with a color scheme of beige, gray, and black. The furniture is minimized to the fullest extent possible, creating an open and harmonious space. The total cost of furniture was 1.3 billion VND (excluding electronics). “I spent a lot of time completing the decoration from paintings, vases, or statues because products with a minimalist style are quite hard to find. The good thing about buying many decorative items is that you can flexibly change the layout, not repeating it every day and not getting bored,” Truong Anh shared. Mr. Phung Quang Huy, 32 years old, working at an architectural and construction investment company in Hanoi – a unit that designed the house, said the style that Truong Anh and his family aimed for was minimalism, modern, and convenient, thereby creating a spacious, airy living space and especially easy to clean. “Customers also have quite detailed and clear requirements. We based on the preferences and habits of the homeowner to arrange function layouts, select furniture… to make them as convenient, intelligent, and harmonious as possible with the existing area of the apartment,” Mr. Huy said. According to Mr. Huy, the process from design to completion of the construction encountered some difficulties, the most challenging of which was choosing interior details as well as materials, quality, colors, sizes… that are suitable for the house and when put together, they harmonize and enhance each other. “The market currently has thousands of furniture models with hundreds of materials from wood, stone, leather, fabric… countless colors, patterns. The design process is also to create unique products for different living spaces,” he said. Receiving this special gift, Truong Anh said his mother was very happy and proud because after all the effort, her son’s dream had finally come true. “Although I encountered many failures on this long journey, the time helped me mature, appreciate what I have now, and most importantly, always believe in myself, learning not to give up,” the 25-year-old man confided. The house is the first gift that Truong Anh gave to his mother to repay her for giving birth to and nurturing him. He hopes that in the future, he can give his mother even bigger gifts, to express his gratitude for always being by his side, motivating him to achieve what he has today. Surprisingly welcomed and admired by the online community after sharing the “house gift for mother”, Truong Anh sees it as a motivation to continue striving for his upcoming goals and aspirations.
