On February 28, the People’s Committee of Tu Mo Rong district, Kon Tum, reported that they are coordinating with authorities to investigate the theft of hundreds of Ngoc Linh ginseng plants from residents in the area. Taking advantage of the recent Lunar New Year, thieves broke into the Ngoc Linh ginseng cultivation areas in Dak Na, Dak Sao, Te Xang, and Ngoc Lay communes (Tu Mo Rong district) to steal the ginseng plants. Upon initial inspection, authorities determined that over 800 ginseng plants ranging from 4 to 10 years old belonging to residents of 4 communes were stolen. Upon receiving the information, the People’s Committee of Tu Mo Rong district established a multi-sectoral team to inspect the scene and assess the damages. The district’s authorities also directed the district police to investigate the individuals involved in the theft. In order to prevent further theft incidents, the People’s Committee of Tu Mo Rong district has mobilized residents to take turns guarding the gardens and install cameras in strategic locations.
